Why pre pay your funeral expenses?

Paying for your funeral in advance, although not required, does have it’s advantages. Remember that by going through the process of making your funeral plans in advance we are helping you remove that burden from your family who would have to do that at a really difficult time. Pre funding your funeral early is just another burden that you are relieving for them as well, this is the first advantage.

As you remember in our last question that we answered about what happens during the pre-need conference, we told you that we would not only design the funeral services to match your needs but also allow you to pick out all of the merchandise that you would choose as fitting for your loved one. Pre funding your funeral in advance will secure both of these costs at the time of your pre-need conference and Mayes Ward-Dobbins will guarantee that price until the demise of that loved one. This is huge because we don’t know what is going to happen in the future but we can almost guarantee that like everything else, funeral prices will rise over the years as well.

There are some other advantages that we will discuss later but these are two very important pieces of pre funding. Just by making your pre arrangements early you are truly giving your family a piece of mind at such a time of grief. But, for some of you pre funding your funeral will also make a hard decision easy and all of your surviving family can focus on the celebration without having to worry about the financials of the funeral. Most families choose the pre funding option for the reason of relief, knowing that their spouse or children really won’t have to make any hard decisions and they will not have to worry about the money. Believe it or not but many women choose this because its easier than explaining to their husband where the checkbook is!

Most people also don’t know that legally a funeral home just can’t accept your money and say that we will hold it until the day that you actually need it, as you can imagine this is very un secure and not really what you need. We actually secure your funds through an insurance company and we actually have a full time team member who is licensed as an insurance agent and she spends everyday writing these types of policies. These policies are yours and can actually follow you anywhere that you may go, who knows maybe retirement at the beach is something that you decide at a later date! Please feel free to contact Mrs. Jill Turner if you have specific questions regarding the policies or feel free to call upon any of our licensed funeral directors to help with the questions as well!
